It seems that this allegorical image needs no further explanation, as it already conveys strength and character, child's games, tragedy, ringing sounds, and silence all at once. Rustam Yakhikhanov interprets this story using several graphic techniques and materials, allowing the viewer to see how the choice of medium influences the image.
The harsh, strict lines of the linocut create an image—a sign. The subject matter, performed in this technique, becomes more decorative, conventional, abstract, which is further enhanced by the geometric element—the frame. Here, the main visual motif is the overall silhouette of the drawing and the expressive contrasts of colors with clear boundaries, which are emphasized in parts by a vibrant red line. This extremely subtle technical trick creates a barely noticeable tension and makes the image more cohesive in terms of composition.
